How to Hard Reset Your Oppo K13x 5G: A Step-by-Step Guide

Is your Oppo K13x 5G lagging, freezing, or are you locked out because of a forgotten password? A hard reset (factory reset) is the most effective way to wipe your device clean and restore it to its original out-of-the-box performance.

In this guide, we will walk you through two proven methods: using the hardware buttons and the software settings.

⚠️ Important: Read Before You Start

  • Backup Your Data: This process deletes everything—photos, contacts, and apps.

  • Charge Your Phone: Ensure you have at least 50% battery to avoid shut-offs during the reset.

  • Google Account (FRP): Make sure you know your Google credentials. After the reset, Android’s Factory Reset Protection (FRP) will ask for the last synced email to verify ownership.

Method 1: Hard Reset via Recovery Mode (When Locked Out)

If you cannot access your phone’s menu, use this hardware button combination.

Step 1: Power Off

Hold the Power Button and slide the slider down to turn the device off completely.

Step 2: The Button Combination

Press and hold the Power Button and the Volume Down Button at the same time.

Step 3: Enter Recovery Mode

When the OPPO logo appears on the screen, release the Power button but keep holding the Volume Down button until the Language Selection screen appears.

Step 4: Format Data

  1. Select English (use the touch screen or Volume keys to navigate and Power to select).

  2. Tap on Format Data.

  3. You will see a 4-digit verification code on the screen. Type it in.

  4. Tap Format to confirm.

Step 5: Reboot

Once the process is complete, a "Data Formatted" message will appear. Tap OK, and your phone will automatically restart.

Method 2: Factory Reset via Settings (Standard Method)

Use this if you can still access your phone and want to wipe it for a fresh start or for resale.

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Go to Additional Settings (on ColorOS 15, this may be under System & Updates).

  3. Tap Back up and reset.

  4. Select Reset phone.

  5. Tap Erase all data.

  6. Enter your Lock Screen PIN or Pattern to confirm.

  7. Tap Erase Data again to finalize.
